YMCA Victoria

The Young Men's Christian Association, or YMCA, is a worldwide charitable organisation that serves local communities in 124 countries.  There are over 14,000 local YMCAs with more than 45 million members worldwide.

YMCA Victoria works from a Christian base of Christian values, to provide opportunities for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit.

The YMCA is the largest employer in the Victorian fitness and recreation industry, currently managing 106 leisure and aquatic facilities.  In total the YMCA employs over 5000 staff, including a large pool of casual employees.  The YMCA's work is led by Chief Executive Peter Burns, and a team of experienced YMCA senior managers, informed by our dedicated board, 15 specialist taskforces, and locally based Executive Officers and Regional Development Managers who oversee the operations of all YMCA operations and facilities in regional divisions.  This leadership structure is designed to enable innovation and improvement to come from any part of the organisation, providing staff with opportunities to contribute and make an impact, whatever their position.

The YMCA works with the community, commercial providers, government and strategic partners to deliver outcomes that build strong people, strong families and strong communities.  The YMCA recognises that access to positive recreation and leisure opportunities should not be a privilege but a part of community life.  The YMCA is committed to access and inclusion principles and has implemented a range of strategies to provide those less fortunate with support to enjoy being active and involved.

The YMCA also participates in the Companion Card Scheme and provides access to Carers who support a person with a disability in YMCA managed community recreation facilities.  Local branches provide information on concession pricing, accessibility features of the facilities, parking and programs that cater for individual needs.
